To kick off this blogging thing, I thought I would start with a top five favorite books countdown. I feel like this is a good way to start some conversation and get to know each other.

No. 5 Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley

Ghostgirl is a charming coming of age about a young and awkward teen aged girl trying to make a name for herself in high school. Charlotte Usher desperately trying to capture the attention of the most popular guy in town, Damen, chokes on a gummy bear as she leaves class and unfortunately dies. Charlotte is thrust into an all new "ghost" world where she must let go of the past and embrace the future. In her new "life" she still is obsessed with Damen and longs to attend the Fall Ball even if she has to use some unconventional methods.

Overall, this novel is extremely well written and is quite gripping. I mostly enjoy the illustrations before every chapter and the character development. Hurley is very much in tune with a younger audience but this first book of a trilogy can gain approval from any age. With heavily Gothic inspired art and themes Hurley takes an interesting twist on a typical young adult novel.

I have ranked this my number five because it is unique and definitely worth a read and even a reread. The trilogy as a whole is entertaining but the first in my opinion is the most encapsulating.
