No. 4 The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger

The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger is a gripping tale of a young man running from his responsibilities. Rebellious protagonist, Holden Caulfield tells his story from an institution somewhere near Hollywood in the early 1950s. He is expelled from his all boys boarding school in Pennsylvania. Scared to go back home to face his parents he decides to take the long way home to New York. The reader follows Holden's adventure meeting up with the "phony" people, his best friend, and his little sister. Readers also get a glimpse into the life of a tormented teenager.
I especially love this novel for the use of syntax that Salinger uses to make you feel like you are inside the mind of Holden. anyone can relate to Holden and how he handles the situations he gets himself into.
I love this classic and all it has to offer; the plot is easy to follow and the narration gives the reader a better recommend this fiction to anyone over thirteen years old because it does touch on some stronger topics. But, overall, this is a classic for a reason and I highly suggest anyone read it. I love this book so much I even have a little Holden inspired tattoo.
